It is the easiest way to start the communication and adoption process.

Meet Max! This 9-years young velvety unicorn came to us from our friends at local animal control after his owner could no longer care for him. Though a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter, he was relieved to be out of the kennels and into a foster home. First off, don’t let his age fool you! Max acts like a spring chicken. He can tolerate a 4 mile hike and loves to walk/run, but doesn’t require a lot of activity. Max is, above all, a people person. When he walks, he wants to greet every single person he encounters. And even though there is so much room on the bed at night, he prefers to sleep on top of his foster mom and loves to be under the covers. Max loves treats (don’t we all?!), is partial to scrambled eggs, and is starting to realize that toys are for fun.

There is soooo much to love about adopting a more mature dog and Max makes everything easy. He is super chill. Sleep. Walk. Sleep. Walk. Repeat. He’ll let you know when he has to go out by standing at the door and crying. And is a sweet and special snuggler.

UPDATE: We knew Max came from a house with both doggo and kitty siblings, but didn’t realize how great he would be in a home with other animals until now. In a nutshell, he is AMAZING! He has aced his cat tests (in the top 1% of his class) by completely ignoring cats. And though he prefers not to interact a ton with dogs, he seems to really enjoy their company and feels more confident with them around. We think he would love a respectful canine sibling in his forever home! Due to his size and lack of known history, older kids would be best for this velvety unicorn.
