Tug Boat is a beautiful, sweet mush of a boy. It is truly amazing that when he was found by local animal control in decent condition, nobody came forward to claim him. Tug does have one main attribute that makes his care and training different from that of other dogs: he is deaf. He does know some commands, like SIT, DOWN, WAIT and OFF, and is very capable of learning from a patient trainer. He does not "spook" or "startle" easily at all. In fact, if you didn't know he was deaf, it would take you quite a while to figure it out. Tug Boat is quite an energetic boy. He needs a long walk, good run or good long game everyday. A big back yard is great, but not enough. When energetic dogs are not given proper physical and mental exercise, they often become destructive, so a family unable to accommodate this boy's energy level may find themselves frustrated! Where he is energetic, he isn't hyper, and he loves to curl up with you at night and sleep like a rock! He LOVES his toys and treats and rides in the C-A-R! He is great with other dogs, people, cats, kids, etc. Not a mean bone in this boy's body. He needs someone with some experience who can be a firm and consistent leader, but gentle and positive from the very first meeting with this boy. Given that, he is an excellent companion.Tug Boat was rescued from a shelter and is now living the life with his foster Mom who is a professional trainer and his pup foster brother, Spark-Plugg.
