Meet Cindi Lou ! Named after the little girl who melted the Grinch's heart, because that is what she does to everyone who meets her. She just looks up at you with those big brown eyes and its love at first sight. Cindi Lou is also the calmest dog I have ever met, never jumps on people, awesome on the leash and enjoys the car. She just sits back there with her "been there done that" attitude, doesn't even stick her head out. If you sit on the floor and tap on your lap she moseys on over and then nicely plopps herself on you for a good massage. She is absolutely gorgeous in person, these pics do not do her justice. Beautiful champagne color with a white splash on her chest. She is very friendly with all people and has been vetted, micro-chipped and is ready to go. She is completely house-trained and will go into her crate on her own. As you may already know, our Miss Cindi Lou had TPLO surgery on April 5th to repair a cruciate tear in her left knee. For those who may not know the rehabilitation process for this type of surgery, it is an extremely long restrictive one. For the first 4 weeks post-op, Cindi Lou was on crate rest 24/7 and only allowed to leave then on to warm packs for 15mins, 3x/day for the next 4 weeks. She had to take at least 3 different pain meds twice a day. Follow up xrays earlier this week shows that she is on the right track to recovery, but is still required to follow the strictest of instructions. For the next 6 weeks, she is still in no way allowed to use any stairs, run, jump, or play. She is not yet allowed to go on any walks of any kind. Fortunately, she is not on 24/7 crate rest any longer, but she should not walk around too much while she is out of it. While she is out, such as for potty breaks, she must be leashed at all times to prevent/discourage any unwanted behavior or motion of the leg. Ice packs are encouraged and still used once a day to help with any discomfort or inflammation she has from daily use of her leg. Another set of follow up xrays are requested in another 6 weeks. The vet suspects that if all goes well at her next check up, Cindi Lou may be granted short, 5-10min walks once a day, with gradual increases every 4 weeks. Typically, dogs who undergo this surgery usually take a good 8mos to a year to fully recover. And statistics show that 50-60% of dogs who tear one ACL will most likely tear the other one within 12-18mos. It is our wish that any potential adopter looking to take our sweet, incredible Cindi Lou into their family, realize these facts, and take them into consideration. And also that however extreme the rehab process, she is worth EVERY ounce of effort. She has been through so much, and she has not complained or fussed about it in any way. Any time she is carried out to the yard to go potty, any time she hears the ice pack from the freezer, any time she has to take her pain meds, any time she is crated while other dogs are free. She has taken everything in stride, which makes her all the more special. She deserves the utmost care, patience, and loveā€¦ as that is what she has shown us. Adoption Restrictions: Mandatory home visit and reference checks. Will only adopt as an only dog or with a compatible dog of the opposite sex. Please Apply Online Adoption Fee: $275.00. Includes spay/neuter, microchip and all vaccinations.
