About Otis

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Fawn
  • Housetrained: Yes
Otis came into the rescue after being left outside by his prior owner for most of his short life. He is now in a loving foster home. From his foster Mom: When he first arrived he was a bit shy, anxious, underweight and seemed a bit stressed. He paced back and forth through the house on the first day but that began to ease up after 24 hours (he seemed to understand that he was in a safe place). Also, when he first arrived he peed in the house a few times but has not done so since the very first day. I started to feed him 3 times a day (small amounts) in order to help him gain weight at a healthy pace. He's eating 2/3 cup in the morning, 1/3 cup midday and 1/2 cup at night and he seems to be gaining weight slowly. He eats very well and loves it! :) Otis' behavior has changed dramatically in the first few days that he has been with me. I take him for walks 3 times a day and that helps to keep him relaxed. Exercise is going to be key in his new home as it helps to settle him down and takes away some of his separation anxiety. He does not like to be alone so it's best if he goes to a home where someone is around most of the time. He plays well with my dogs and also wants attention from me and my dogs, which is a good sign that he's feeling more at home. I've been taking him with me whenever I travel to meet with my clients and their dogs to help expose him to other experiences. He has done very well. He's smart and very sweet and would be best in a home with another dog, preferably another Pug. Another Pug owner would already know that he needs to eat out of a shallow dish and that he snorts and snores. Also that he needs his face cleaned quite often to keep it germ and bacteria free. He's well behaved during bath time but his face needs to be protected so he doesn't feel like he's drowning. He knows how to sit and he's learning to stay and he knows his name so he'll come when you call him. He loves toys and he likes the Dentix chewies. He will make someone a wonderful companion and he will be extremely appreciative by giving kisses. Adoption Restrictions: Mandatory home visit and reference checks. Will only adopt as an only dog or with a compatible dog of the opposite sex. Please Apply Online Adoption Fee: $325.00. Includes spay/neuter, microchip and all vaccinations.
