Mason is a lively, sweet pup who had a sad start to his little life. Mason was found stray in a tough area of a large MA city. At just 12 weeks (estimated) of age, he spent a couple of weeks in an animal control facility- certainly no place for a pup. The shelter staff loved him and searched for a place for him to go. Although I (his foster mom) was on a “foster break”, I just could not see this little baby euthanized. Upon arriving at my house, it was hard to figure out where he had come from- everything in my house seemed to be new to him- beds, blankets, couches- however, he knew basic commands and knew to go to the bathroom outside. My guess is he was trained to listen, but not well loved By day 2 in my home, he did a 360. He loved blankets and dog beds more than anything, had picked out his favorite toys, made friends with my dogs, and quickly attached himself to me. His listening skills are impeccable and he picks up on things so quickly. He still has occasional accidents in the house, but we are so close to being completely house trained- as long as his water intake is monitored- like any pup, he loves his water! He is very food motivated and knows exactly where the treat jar is– and how to get me to open it He loves to be outside and is thrilled to run around and chase me or the other dogs (or vice versa!) but is also happy to bring a toy outside to hang out and enjoy the sun with you! He LOVES his toys, and has a few favorites (a stuffed purple octopus is his most favorite- he carries it everywhere he can). He does surprisingly little damage to his toys. Every pup I have fostered tears soft toys to shreds in about 2 seconds flat- but not Mason. I cannot tell if he loves them too much or if he hasn’t yet realized he can tear them to shreds The cutest little quirk he has is upon going to sleep, he needs to have the end of a blanket in his mouth- a comfort it seems- as he falls asleep like that. I have gotten him a “lovey”- a bunny attached to a blanket, which he now takes to bed with him. Mason needs an attentive, loving family who can continue to work with him and teach him the do’s and dont’s in life. Luckily, he is SO eager to learn! He is so sweet and it’s easy to see how happy he is to make you happy. Mason is a really affectionate little guy who needs a family who can show him the love he missed out on for the first few months of life.
